Central Product Classification

Class Definition

The Central Product Classification (CPC) consists of a coherent and consistent classification structure for products (goods and services) based on a set of internationally agreed concepts, definitions, principles and classification rules. It serves as an international standard for assembling and tabulating all kinds of data requiring product detail, including statistics on industrial production, domestic and foreign commodity trade, international trade in services, balance of payments, consumption and price statistics and other data used within the national accounts. It provides a comprehensive framework within which data on products can be collected and presented in a format that allows for economic analysis supporting decision-taking and policy- making.
