alpha-glucosidase

Definition

alpha-glucosidase, also referred to as invertase in the context of apiculture, is an enzyme that catalyses the hydrolysis of terminal, non-reducing (1->4)-linked alpha-D-glucose residues with release of alpha-D-glucose. In honey bees, alpha-glucosidase is secreted by the hypopharyngeal gland. It is described by the following attributes or identifiers:
