spur embedder

Definition

A spur embedder is a tool used to embed wire in foundation. It consists of a spur wheel mounted on a handle. There is a groove around the edge of the spur wheel that allows it to ride along the wire and press it into the wax foundation. The spur wheel can be heated in boiling water or on a hot plate.
